mfc 125 continued......

Placed my first order from tabaotrends today to start getting this bike back into shape. Thought I should continue this discussion here instead of the new member section. Here is the original post. http://www.chinariders.net/showthread.php?t=16260

Here is a list of parts i ordered. I hope they all fit! lol !
The bike is for my son. He wants to change it from white to blue so the new tank and plastics will be blue.

Still need a few more parts but this will be a good start.

I have a few questions.

How do you change the oil on this thing? I don't see a drain plug.
Is there an oil filter somewhere?

Dave

Should be a oil drain plug on the side or on the bottom.

Oil screen cap: 15/16 works fine in most case if don't have metric tool

Finally getting back to this discussion. Oil is changed.

I'm trying to find a front caliper like the one in this post.
http://www.chinariders.net/showpost....7&postcount=13

There is a link to it further in the discussion but it is broken for some reason. Been looking on taobao but can't seem to find it. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I'm still waiting for the first shipment of parts to arrive. Figured I'd start working on the second order while I'm waiting.

Head Scratching

Parts finally arrived! Everything but the fuel cap fits. I have no idea what the original cap looked like on the original tank. The person I bought the bike from said it was a locking cap, but he lost the keys and had to mangle the tank to get it out. The new tank I purchased is identical.

https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=...te=main#detail

The cap I ordered was this

http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=520116217399

Nope, doesn't fit.

Anyone know what cap I need? Maybe this one?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HONDA-CB100-...mtr&rmvSB=true

or one of these?

Dudeman, can you show us a pic of the underside of the new cap?

I'll get some pictures of it when I get home from work and post them up.

I think Humanbeing has once again pointed me in the right direction.

After some more investigation and looking at the links he posted, I believe I need a push on locking type of cap rather than a twist on.

I think I did pretty well though, considering the gas cap is the only thing I ordered that didn't fit/work so far.

Hey guys.

My son has been having fun on the MFC till this weekend! We were out on the trails and the bike was running well till we switched and I started riding it. We started to head back and the bike started missing a little, then got worse, like it was running out of gas. Then it started backfiring when trying to accelerate. Finally it died. Checked gas and it had plenty. It will start up and idle and it sounds good, but if you try to rev it, it sputters and backfires. Had to get a tow back home. My son thinks I killed his bike. He's not real happy with me.

Going to tear into it today and start troubleshooting. Does this sound like a CDI issue? As always, any help is greatly appreciated.

Dave

It certainly could be a CDI issue, and a spare is a good thing to have. I would also take the time to rule everything else out, including fuel flow and the spark plug.
