Tool tube with Tourfella panniers
I like to carry my tools close to the CG, also when I don't have the panniers on the bike, so I worked out this setup.
Aluminum bar stock from the hardware store (too expensive, but I'm sure I will use it for other projects). You can buy the tool tubes on eBay but they are less expensive here: http://www.agrisupply.com/manual-can...large/p/67670/

I like that a lot! What a nice break that the tube fits between pannier mount and the signal light.

I found another way to use the space inboard of the left pannier mount: I riveted a 5.11 brand 10x6 pouch to the inboard exterior of my pannier and it neatly slides through the pannier frame. It's a bit fiddly to work the zipper and it's not weatherproof like a tool tube but I think it'll be useful.
