Good for you. Yes, you want to fill the fluid to approximately the center line of the sight glass.

Well, I was hoping my issues were over but the brake gremlin came back. I lowered my fluid level from the top of the inspection window to the center. About 4 miles into my commute, it seized again.
I called Excalibur. They are going to have a tech call me tomorrow. I now have the fluid level at the bottom of the glass. Keep you'all posted.

I'm quite interested in the outcome.

I had this happen to me on my Hondanoid, when I first had it. Come to find out, I caused it. In the search of the most responsive rear brake, I adjusted all of the slop out of the adjuster at the rear of the pedal to shorten the brake travel. As Spud said, as the fluid heated, it pushed the caliper closed and wouldn't let any fluid go the opposite direction back to the master cylinder.
Make sure there's a ton of slop in that linkage at the pedal or it doesn't allow the brake to "unpump". Once I readjusted it, I have not had a problem since.

I hadn't considered that as a possibility. A little freeplay is a good thing.

Update:
I received an e-mail from Wade at Excalibur.
He advised me to take a needle and probe the return port in the master cylinder . He said that it may possibly have gunk in it. I emptied the master cylinder and flossed it good with an extra long needle, re bled the brakes, then leveled the fluid to just under center in the sight glass. Adjusted the brakes as far as it would go to the sloppy side.
Tomorrow I will ride her to work keeping my fingers crossed.

Thanks for reporting the good customer service. I hope the new master cylinder fixes the problem.

That's terrific service! I'm pleased to hear that he gave you warranty coverage. I've read plenty of good things about Wade.

Update:
Its fixed !!! First of all I can't say enough about the service and genuine concern from Wade and Alan at Excalibur. They sent me a complete brake system intact. I was expecting a master cylinder only. It arrived last Friday, but I didn't have time to put it on until
yesterday and she works like a charm.

Thanks for the replies and help on getting me thru this little set back. This little machine is very impressive. I see a big difference in quality on this bike compared to my earlier china machines.
Now I need to work on my weight lose program so I can hike my leg over the seat a little smoother !

Glad to read this. Wade is a busy body, but once he goes on business trips, Alan has to try to fill in his shoes--you had an issue at the 'wrong' time, but I knew they would take care of you. I am glad to read you are liking your bike more and more. I just replaced a couple engine mounting bolts, so keep an eye on those, as well as the exhaust bolts where the exhaust comes out of the head. The smog pump is a new TMEC addtion than from the '09 model, so watch the hose where it attaches to the tube out of the head (unless you already ditched that and capped it off). You probably don't 'abuse' yours as much as I do (who would think a 60-65 MPH commute is considered 'abuse'), so these issues won't be as much as concern for you--but they are Chinese after all!
