Maxxis tires, anyone tried them?

http://www.americanmototire.com/inde...rget=d226.html
I've heard good things about them on other bikes, but I was wondering if anyone has tried them on a China bike yet.
I've about chewed through my stock rear tire and am looking for something with good manners on and off road. This one is a 50/50 tire and the prices isn't too bad, around $90 for a set.

Don't know anything about the dual sport Maxxis tires but my Honda Aero has them (they were stock). I don't have anything out of the ordinary to report, wear and performance seem about average. I do know from following a Honda Shadow forum that many of the riders there go to Metzler or Avon tires after the stockers wear out. But since these are street tires this might be an apples-to-oranges comparison. I think they are a decent brand though.

Can't be any worse than the stockers. The price seems reasonable and they look a bit more aggressive than the cheng shen tires.

Get one and give us a review. I think alot of us will be needing replacement soon.

I already have a kenda trakmaster rear waiting.

You might want to pm blimpman as he has them on both of his XT225's.
I know he has said that he likes them. Hope this helps...

Actually for off road I've been really happy with the stock tires. With then the bike is like a tractor, point and shoot! I've actually had times when I though I wouldn't get traction, but did! (more than once, in both mud and sand, rocky soil) On road they aren't too bad, but the lugs flex a bit more than I'd like. I've actually considered sticking with the stockers.

I looked at the Trackmaster... pretty aggressive tire, not sure if I'd want that one for the street or not. If you notice the Maxxis has larger lugs than a straight dirt tire, that should help with the traction and lug stability. They say they wear well too. I've seen a few of them around on the big 650 dual sports.

I am going to try the trakmaster, just because I already have it and it didn't cost me anything. I also have another cheng shin front.

Those maxxis tires look lke a good alternative and compared to other DS tires are priced right.

Replacement cheng shin are cheap, so you can have a new tire every 2500 miles for $30.

Ask blimpman to give us a review.

Sometimes I really get rooked having to shop at stores and not off the net. :( My Kenda, Challenger street tires were sooooo expensive compared to the prices you guys are quoting. That might just be the nature of the motorcycle beast up here, gotta pay to play. On the other hand I really like my tires. I've put on more than 1000Km street and they still look new.
