Got Wheelies?

I finally rode a wheelie today! Not just popping the wheel up and back down either. All the way from the road and halfway up my driveway, maybe 30 yards. I was about to give up on ever doing it on this bike. (Actually it's the longest I've ever rode one!)

The trick is to sit up straight as possible and back a bit on the seat. I had to clutch it up (it will come up a little without the clutch, but not enough), get up to around 15mph in first, pull the clutch get the revs up and drop the clutch (keep your foot over the back brake) the bike will start to come up... here's the part I was messing up... when it comes up DO NOT lean foreward! Lean back with the bike instead (keep your position in relation to the bike as fixed as possible). Keep on the gas until you feel the bike start to balance out and then you can let off a bit... better yet hit the rear brake to bring the front down, important thing to learn!

I fianlly got it! WOOT! Now that I can do it it seems easy where it was so hard before.

I've been working on it seriously for jus a couple of days. Once I got it, it was like, "DUH!". I'm not consistant yet, but I'll get there. I tried everything from standing up on the rear pegs, standing on the front pegs, sitting all the way back on the seat... Just sit upright and don't lean over the tank and don't be afraid to give it some gas. BUT! Keep your foot ready to hit the rear brake, if by some odd chance you spin off to the side or come up too fast (I really doubt either one) you'll be ready to hit the brake and keep control of the bike.
But I may not know what I'm talking about, so if you try it and die I can't be held responsible! (Take that as a CYA statement!)

Cheaper KLR's out there.

Nice article on lawsuits.

BEST LAWYER STORY OF THE YEAR, DECADE AND PROBABLY THE CENTURY.

Charlotte, North Carolina

A lawyer purchased a box of very rare and expensive cigars, then insured
them against, among other things, fire.

Within a month, having smoked his entire stockpile of these great cigars and
without yet having made even his first premium payment on the policy the
lawyer filed a claim against the insurance company.

In his claim, the lawyer stated the cigars were lost "in a series of small
fires."

The insurance company refused to pay, citing the obvious reason, that the
man had consumed the cigars in the normal fashion.

The lawyer sued and WON!

(Stay with me.)

Delivering the ruling, the judge agreed with the insurance company that the
claim was frivolous. The judge stated nevertheless, that the lawyer held a
policy from the company, which it had warranted that the cigars were insurable
and also guaranteed that it would insure them against fire, without defining
what is considered to be unacceptable "fire" and was obligated to pay the
claim.
Rather than endure lengthy and costly appeal process, the insurance company
accepted the ruling and paid $15,000 to the lawyer for his loss of the cigars
lost in the "fires".

NOW FOR THE BEST PART...

After the lawyer cashed the check, the insurance company had him arrested on
24 counts of ARSON!!!

With his own insurance claim and testimony from the previous case being used
against him, the lawyer was convicted of intentionally burning his insured
property and was sentenced to 24 months in jail and a $24,000 fine.

This is a true story and was the First Place winner in the recent Criminal
Lawyers Award Contest.

I've heard that story before, funny because it's true!

I talked to a freind last night, he thinks he can locate a used KLR for me pretty cheap. Said that he knew of a 93 for $1500 and will check to see if it's still for sale. That would be good, I could have a bike to ride and a project bike as well!
