Trailtech Vapor

Ok. Quick question. I hate my factory guage cluster, err, bicycle speedometer. Is the Vapor worth the money, accurate, does the tach work, etc?

+100 on the Vapor.

Spud found a deal on mine, I got it for like $85 shipped.

All the functions work well as advertised. Installation takes a while as there are quite a few steps but it's easy and straightforward. The air temp and coolant temp features are nice, as well as the temp and redline warning LEDs, etc etc.

The only downside is most of the numbers are too small to read while standing offroad getting your butt kicked.

Well worth it.

I use it on my YZ400F dualsport conversion.

I have a Trail Tech Vapor installed on my 2004 Honda CRF250X. Yes, the TT Vapor is accurate, and it is definitely worth the money. I like this computer a lot.

Hehe

I just put one on my bike a few months ago and I love it. It always reads the same as the stupid sign on the side of the road the cops put out to show how fast you are going

If it is, I don't know how and it's not in the user manual.

With my YZ i just put it's hours from the original hour meter in the bikes logbook.

Yes, I believe its possible, but you need to contact Trail Tech for the 'secret' key code to change the odometer. Trail tech doesn't put this information in the user's manual to prevent fraudulent manipulation of the odometer settings by unscrupulous sellers.

Interesting thought, Spud. I wonder if I can reset the hour meter to reflect total time.

Send an email, and/or make a telephone call to Trail Tech and explain your desire. After they are convinced you are not trying to falsify the odometer for illegal purposes, they might tell you the secret key combination. If they tell you the trick, write it down so you don't forget it.

I take it this wouldn't work with a cable driven tach?

If it is installed correctly, the Trail Tech Vapor will work with any motorcycle. The Vapor's tachometer is connected to the output lead on the motorcycle's ignition coil. If you install the TT Vapor computer, you should remove the stock tachometer cable from your motorcycle.
