hi bird 250 no start

I am a tech at a ford dealer my brother-in-law got this thing from a friend it started with a carb replaced it ran great then no spark I put a stator on it I found chafed wires the one I got looked the same but one wire was different in color I don't know what I had before but after replacement I have 48 ac voltage going to the cid but no spark tried new cdi and a new cool still nothing I was messing with the wires to the light up trans positions at the trans after the last time it ran after that nothing here recent I have no high voltage help please I'm good with cars not so good with this
