Stellio78 - Changes 2 My V-Raptor

Hi all,

New member here and owner of a Skyteam V-Raptor, thought I'd start a thread to show off any changes I make and use this thread to seek any advice/help I might need over this time.

No pics as of yet but all decals have been removed along with print on the back of the seat.

Muffler ordered http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/360693493...84.m1497.l2649 and emission gear removed from the engine (cat still in header pipe)

Will report back when muffler is fitted and add a pic or 2.

How do you intend to deal with the cat?

Cut that section out and weld in a straight bit of pipe or make a new stainless header pipe.

I'm assuming the standard header pipe is just mild steel?

New indicators and pod filter ordered

Also removed the standard handle bars today and am try to size up some drag bars

Yep, mild steel header in all likelihood. I've only ever seen one that was stainless, and that was a dirt bike. I like those indicators!

OK muffler installed and fired it up, after it warmed up a little the idle seems to hang and I think the motor was getting a little hot.

The plug after a 5 minute idle.

So I'm not that good with a carby, can I make any adjustments to suit the muffler better or do I just have to start looking for bigger jets? Any how to guides for a full carby adjustments around?

This is the carby fitted and where it looks like there are and could be adjustments made.

Any help would be great and I'll do a little research myself to see if I can find a how to guide for carby adjustment.

So I've done a little reading and am I correct that photo 1 of the carby is the fuel bowl drain, photo 2 is the idle speed adjustment and photo 3 is the idle fuel mixture adjustment?

another question

On the inlet manifold you can see that I have blanked the vent that was part of the emission set-up, is it right to have it blanked like that? I thought that was the way to go but thought I'd check since I've got the questions flowing

And another, do all the later model Chinese bike carbs have adjustable jet needles?

You are certainly lean but it may be an air leak at the carb holder (intake manifold, 'boot').

Rule that out before you proceed.

Exactly right.

The ground electrode looks a little white to me. Tell us how it runs at idle, mid-range and full throttle. Also, how is the transition from idle? Does it bog?

The fuel mixture screw (aka the pilot mixture screw) controls the transition from the idle to the main circuit. If the motor bogs or falls flat at full throttle, only a different (presumably larger) main jet will solve it. If it suffers in the midrange, the needle clip needs to be moved.

Makes sense?
