Hi-Bird self destructing
I have a 2006 Hi-Bird QH200GY
It is slowly self destructing as I ride it. Every bolt, nut on it is coming loose and falling off. So far I have lost the rear axle nut, the steering top nut, a turn signal cover, and a bunch of small screws holding on misc. parts. It's also developed a nasty vibration. On top of that I still have not found a reliable place to get parts! Any suggestions, comments, offers of parts? |

Nasty vibe, check for loose/broken engine mount bolts... everything else... loc-tite.
There are several threads dealing with vibes. Use the search and you'll find everything from loose steering head nuts to engine bolts. There's a guy on here parting out... I think a Viva... that should have a bunch of compatible parts. Look in the for sale forum. |

Read all the FAQ's and the Tech Info section. See links at top of page.

Vax,
Frostbite is right, you need to look through the FAQ's, Tech and follow the BIKE PREP THREAD, a $2 tube of loc-tite can save you alot of trouble... These bikes have a certain degree of maintenance...

I bet that rear axle nut coming off was a shocker. Did the real wheel wobble all over the place when it happened? Just curious, but how many miles have you put on it before it started falling apart?
BTW, do you know Lupi’s Pizza?

Twice now I went back to the first page and read through absolutely everything. I spent more time reading than riding or fixing, then I did fixing, then I did the riding.

I haven't heard much about the large nuts such as the axle or steering top nut coming off on these bikes. Mine has a lock nut on the axle that stays put.

Contact Member Tom from RPM, I believe he can get Hi-Bird parts. Click on links to find his website, or drop him an email.. A certain amount of due dilligence and this forum should help stop the bike from falling apart from under you. NET
