Upgrading the rear tire.

Finally decided to upgrade the rear tire. Ordered the Trakmaster II (like blimpman's). From what I've read it won't last as long on the road, but I bet I'll be very happy with it.
Then I might just take an iron to the front tire to remove some lugs.

Can't wait to see how it looks all mounted up!!!

I have a trakmaster waiting in my shed that I salvaged from a blown IT200.

When the rear tire gets worn I will have it to replace the stocker. It will be interesting since I ride 90% street.

I think it'll take awhile to wear down the stock ChengShin tire. Great tire but as soon as it gets some tacky dirt/mud in it, I'm sliding all over.

But on the street I can lay my bike about as low as a crotch rocket.

I have been impressed with the stockers on the street. They get alittle loose at higher speeds, but hold really well. I haven't been in any mud yet with them. I think they are fine for off-road in the dry. Felt loose on some gravel that I was on.

I have the trackmaster and also another front that I saved from some bikes I parted out.

Before I rode my bike the first time I wanted to change the tires. 250fatboy's street tires is what I wanted. After my first ride i decided to wear the stockers out first. Knobbie tires are way smoother than I thought they would be on the street and they grab better too. So 250 if you wake up some morning and your bike is up on a box and your tires are gone, it's not me :roll:

I was thinking of getting some more street oriented tires, but now that I have ridden a few miles the stockers are fine. I don't ride hard. I don't think a full knobbie will be good on the street, but the tire was free and I already have it. I will probably have the stockers wore out before the end of the year too.

Yeah these things last too. I've already put 5300 miles on these street tires and they still look great. Funny thing, Dad STILL has his stock tires on at over 5000 miles. I can't believe it. I changed mine out at 3300 miles, but I also ride a lot harder then he does. I mean they would be useless for any thing wet or muddy, but for street they're ok. He has his street tires waiting in my garage when he's ready.

I not big on riding in mud or water. I have ridden street bikes on loose gravels and wet roads and it takes alittle skill, but you get used to it.

We lived on a farm and had to travel a few miles on gravel to the paved road.

know the feeling kato i live about 7 miles on gravel thne its 10 miles blacktop to town. love those tires.got 2000 miles on them but i mite have to replace my rear some time soon.

there is no gravel to be found hardly where I am know. I plan to do about a 3 day ride in August on some forest service roads in the mountains.

When I change my tires because they're worn out, I really like the look of the tires in the "Parts Sticky". Full street sorry, but I only ride street.

What size is that? Is it going to clear the swingarm?

The one I have is 100/100-18 and it appears that it will be a tight fit.
