Posted the XF on CL, we will see if I get any hits.

I found two local Yamaha WR250X for sale. I think that may be my next bike. Same weight as the XF, with aluminum frame, water cooled, fuel injected, 6 speed, top shelf suspension, etc. I really loved the XF, but just want a bit more power.

If I sell the XF, with the SV sale, I will have enough cash in hand for the WR so it will be like an even trade. My wife won't ask too many questions, especially with one less bike in the garage...

That would work!

In my area the supermoto KLX's and WR's sell for quite a bit less than their D/S brothers so you may get an especially good deal! :P

In my area it's the opposite!

There is very little if any off road areas to ride. The cheapest WRX I've seen was $3500, which I might go see soon. Most are asking around $4500. I can pick up a DRZ dual sport or KLR for less than $3k.

I think a wr would be better cruising down the road than a drz.

Interesting. It makes sense that would be a regional effect.

I found my next bike. Checked it out yesterday. The seller is going to hold it until we can meet to transfer the title sometime next week (after I get the cash from the XF sale).

2008 Yamaha WR250X with FMF Q4 slip on exhaust, FMF power programmer, 45T rear sproket, Speedo Healer, EXUP delete, air box mod. All original parts come with the bike (including stock exhaust if the FMF is too loud). It only has about 2600 miles on it, needs nothing, like new condition. Seriously clean. He also had the seat redone with a gel layer and a flatter profile in the back to make it comfy. Also comes with factory service manual. The mirrors have integrated turn signals. I am very excited about it.

I was going to look at another one on Saturday, but it had 26k miles on it and he was asking about $800 less than the practically new one.

I'm glad to hear that! With all this talk of selling, I was concerned that you'd be bikeless.

That is the perfect machine, IMHO. I think that WR's are very capable, and excellent quality. Please start a thread on it, once you've received it.

I thought I would be bikeless, too. I was prepared to sell both my bikes then wait around until I found a good deal on the bike I wanted. Well, this deal was there right away. I thought I wouldn't be able to sell both bikes in time and that the WR would be gone. In fact he e-mailed me last week and said he decided to trade it for an R6. Then I got another e-mail saying that deal fell through, so it is still available. Then the XF and SV both sold in less than a week of posting them on Craigs List. So it all worked out, and I may be bikeless for a whole day...

Same thing happened when I bought my current house. We were not actively looking, but saw this house for sale that would fit us perfectly. Decided to post our house for sale, not expecting to really sell. In one of the worst housing markets (summer of 2010), we had two buyers make offers in the first week of listing. We tried to work everything out with closing, but we ended up being homeless for 1 week which wasn't too bad.
