Dirt bike wont start - Experienced yet confused on this one.
I was out riding and I noticed the air filter box came off. I wheeled it home and left it sit until I could get a new filtered ordered.
I put the new filter on and it would not start. I was confused. I have trouble shooted the following 1. CDI 2. Ignition coil 3. Rectifier 4. Fuel line 5. Spark plug 6. Battery and some other things I can/t think of at this time. I am guessing it is electrical. But I wouldnt know where to start on that. I have a 5 pin CDI system with battery and I found the correct wiring harness diagram on Hooper imports. They key still functions when turned (the lights go on and off) and the electric start works but the engine does not start. The summer is finally here and I cant ride :( Pleas let me know. I will try anything that you guys say! I will answer all of your questions and I can post pictures if needed. Also, I am in Sioux Falls, SD if anyone wants to come help Looking forward to your response! |

Have you checked the spark plug for spark when your cranking it over? Is your kill switch ok?

I was thinking it might be the kill switch somehow but I do not know how to check it?
Also, how do I check for a spark? |

Where were you riding when the airbox came off? off road or street? I ask because the valves/ piston rings could have been damaged by dirt, resulting in very low compression.
but I would pull the plug, ground it on the block, and e start it to see if there is still spark. Maybe something just got pulled out. Also try spraying some starting fluid in the carb then starting to check for carb problems

I was riding on the street when it came off but the hose from the box to the card was still on there.
Ill check for the carb and spark in a few hrs and let you know how it turns out. |
