Himo GY200-A Same As?

New to the forum and Ive just got myself a road legal Himo GY200-A after having one a few years ago but only offroad.

Ive looked around the site and see alot of ref to the Zongshen Sierra 200 and that its a copy of the TW200, Im just wondering if the Himo is the same bike and also a copy of the TW200?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I might aswell get it out of the way

Thanks guys

Welcome to the forum.

Pictures would help.

I don't think you have a Zong/TW200 clone but rather what we refer to as a Hondoid, or a Honda clone of sorts.

Hondoids are good, but not in the same league as a Zong.

Not a stupid question, BTW.

Typical semi-generic decent quality Hondoid. 90% of CB's are Hondoids. There are dozens (hundreds?) or importers and distributers and parts manufactures and assembling factories but for the most part they are all the same.

A good decent fun bike to enjoy, and learn how to wrench on....

Search the forums a bit. The most important mod is regearing it. Stock they redline in 5th at about 45.

The next mods many people do is an exhaust and a rejet. The exhaust can be a little tricky. An upgrade to an inexpensive Mikuni carburetor is a common mod as well.

The big thing is the gearing. The intake/exhaust changes only help a little, IMHO.

Replacing the Chinatubes and Chinahoses is also key if you want to get home the same way you got to your destination.

Welcome! As usual, FastDoc has given you good advice. Somewhere down the line you might want to convert the headlight to a brighter, more common bulb. Here in the U.S., we like to convert the headlight to an H4 bulb.

Welcome! If you have one large valve cover with perimeter bolts, it is a pushrod Honda clone, which is cloned from the very popular (in the UK) CG125. The China version is available as a 125, 150, 200 or 230.

If the valve cover has two large nuts (that take around a 17mm wrench), it is cloned from the NX250.

well anything really………

Widely marketed here in the UK during the last few years but all commonly the same underneath the plastics with most likely the 163FML 197cc OHV engine.

I had one of these myself, a Lifan GY200-2 branded machine and it was very good – went up to Scotland on it in fact! Any Q’s just ask and I’ll happily help if I can.

Where in the UK are you based?

See a picture of the Lifan on my VX blog below!

Will sit nicely at 50 - 55ish - any more is pushing it to its limits, the vibes get way too bad and it feels like its gonna explode!

That said, keep it to a sensible speed, tighten all the nuts & bolts and keep the oil clean and it will be a reliable servant I'm sure.

Keep us posted and some nice pics if poss.

Andy
