250 ATV engine prob.
This one has me stumped. It came in running but smoked and 70 lb. compression. Seems he didnt know you have to oil the breather and rode
in powder sand  Now,bull*hits out the way, I rebuilt the motor, new jug, valves, rings, piston. Sidebar, anyone know the torque specs. on 250cc chinese motors, I used 25 lbs. Now, it won't start unless the choke is on and will not run with it off. It dies like I hit the kill button. Cleaned the carb(2T) reset the valves twice. Checked for vac. leaks :? I have worked on bikes for a long time but I dont know it all, any ideas will be appreciated guys BlvdSlim Amarillo,Tx scooterworksplus@yahoo.com |

stalling
if you have th echoke on & it runs... and when you turn the choke off..... and it stalls.. you have a vacuum leak... spray soem either around the carb mounting & th eintke pipe.... if it stalls or runs stupid... then you have aleak there..

You have to "oil the breather"? I'm lost.
Torque specs on which parts? I run 30~40lbs on the the head bolts, 15~25 on most everything else. Most of it is cheap aluminum so you can't get too carried away. What are you reading in compression currently? What are your valves set at? ALso...Amarillo? Wow. I'm in Lubbock. Small(ish) world.
