Been watching this post also, am curious of the answer myself, hope someone more knowledgeable than me chimes in. I know that the Rocketta bikes seem to be Zongshen powered and the same cc motor is often listed as having about 2hp less than the Lifan bikes. Lifan bikes seem to have decent quality and a few reports of long term use with the Lifan bikes. Have not seen anything about a long-term use report from the Zongshen bikes.
Does anyone know who makes the motors in the Tank bikes? Tank also has a 250cc dirtbike, but I like the Rocketta "Hummer" dirtbike.

TMS200GY v LF200GY

OK, smlrace says the TMS model is thier brand, the two bikes are exactly the same.

Does anyone else have thoughts on Zongshen v Lifan? I am bidding on the Lifan, but, the Zongshen is close enough for me to go pick it up and it may be cheaper. However at these prices, I am more concerned with the quality of the bikes, than the price difference between them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Kent

I don't think you will go wrong with either bike. Both are at the top of the "heap" as far as Chinese bikes go. Lifan and Zongshen are the two biggest manufacturers in China. Everyone else uses either companies' engines in their brands, such as Shineray (the 3rd biggest manufacturer).

I agree with culcune. Either is decent for the money.
I would be more concerned about being sure you will get a correct MSO if you are going to license it for road use.

I believe that it's Zonshen, the Tank 250MX is identical (bar colour and badges) to my Hongdou MD250GY (also a dirt bike but made road legal), the motor's based on the Honda CRF230F (223cc 6 speed). Since the trouble with the clutch it's been no bother.

Jonathan.

The 2007 American Lifan has
