I am very please with my lifan so far. The bike is far better than expected hopefully due to the dual sport prep guide. The dealer didn't do much more then slap it together.

The UM looks really nice, but getting alitte too close the jap bikes cost.

I would recommend getting a lifan. I would probably be worth the drive to see Bruce.

Just a thought!

I checked out the main page, I assume it is a Brit bike.
The prices are really not that bad, Ever ridden one??

The have ties to Hyosung. I have seen some of there sportbikes. The appear to be a real contender for the jap bikes. Alittle more refined then our china bikes. That UM DS looks like a nice ride, but not for a cheap commuter that will be subjected to my abuse.

They have ties to Hyosung but the UM brand is chinese. I have never ridden one but I have sat on one. The fit and finish is nice and they seem like a quality bike.

If my Viva gives me any major problems I may go for a UM.

Those guys have ties to Austria. I'd rather have the KTM version! That's a rebadged KTM 525EXC.

Besides, I already have one KTM.

Oh, KTM offers a true dualsport alright! Here's mine! It's a bit large for serious off-roading but it's still a dualsport. Awesome bike. My 950 is actually for sale. I'm looking at something else. I haven't had an calls or any real interest yet though. Anyone interested? 100rwhp (or pretty close anyway) 942cc v-twin, dual downdraft carbs, carb heaters, dual fuel tanks, crashbars, Renthal MX bars, etc...

I bought my china bike from t-motorsports and I don't have any complaints. Read all the posts about prep and registration first though.

Really nice bike, but it looks heavy. A bit wild in the rough stuff I imagine. Since we're severaly off-topic anyway (!@#$ moderators not keeping stuff on track....) I sat on one of these the other day. Very nice.

frostbite,
I can also delete my hijacking posts. Give me the word or just go ahead and delete them.

Sorry, I digress!

Sam

[EDIT] PS: I sat on the X-Challenge at the Cleveland Cycle World IMS it goes over 300#. The 950 is surprisingly light. She weighs 437# dry and about 480# with bags. 520# fully loaded for a trip!
