new motor

Here is my up date and a new therd! The new motor comes today it is for a ATV not a motorcycle but should be the same. and I'm going to do alot of mods that have been listed, like getting rid of the air box, heveyer bolts, the same set mods as Rachel's set, and I think I will rebild the muffler not just cut holes in it, So stay tuned.

Awesome. Keep us posted! It certainly will be easier to do the carb mods while the engine is on the work bench .

I have to wonder if the transmission ratios are set up to turn quad tires instead of a cycle tire...might be worth thinking about before you go modding it, just in case you need to return it.

I would remove the plug and chain from your bike, mark the front sprocket, push the kick starter down gently and count the revolutions with the bike in 1st. Then, do the same with the new motor. Hopefully they will match.

I'm sure it's a 5 speed, OB1 was just pointing out that ATV tyres tend to be smaller thus the the gear ratio wthin the tranny may be different.

Day 3 new motor is in the frame and tested started, it runs. old mane wireing plug and new one not wiered the same. old motor has one yellow and one pink wire new one has two yellow wires. I may have to switch staters. as atv's don't run as maney lights. I will know when I do a volt out put test. But I'm on hold till I get the K&N air cleaner. Oh and I cut the muffler apart and cut out the last baffle and shortened the out let pipe.

will add pic's soon. test ride was 160 K and the new motor worked grate!! it looks to be geared higher than the old one. but went down the road grate. I on the other hand ran out of gas on the sportster in valcano park and had to send Rach after a park ranger to bring me some gas.

Yep the new motor in Randi's viva is great. The gearing seems to be a bit higher so we run the bike with a lot lower rpm's. I think the viva motors are geared a bit lower than the lifan motors just compare the numbers on the sproket thread and you will see. Was so happy with the new motor we ordered a ohc lifan motor for my viva.
