I think that I had one of those CG125 Hondas or similar back in 1974. Never had a bit of trouble with it for the five years that I owned it.

FD,
My Bobber has a 167FMM engine. Do you know what Honda model and year it was cloned from?
Thanks,
Your 167fmm is that 229cc ? i finding it very hard to find reliable info on all these different models .
Yes, the 167FMM engine on my bobber is the push rod 229cc which i now think is the bored and stroked Honda CG125 engine but I could be wrong. The engine does not have the kick starter but have the oil sight glass and a dip stick. Kinda weird?

I agree about the difficulty of finding reliable info on these Chinese clones.
I just checked the engine on my bike and it is a 169FMM, but it is 250cc and overhead cam. I think it is built by Zongshen

I would love to have my old GY-5 back just for its engine. If I had the skill, I'd love to build a utilitarian go-anywhere survival bike from it. It was just so simple to work on..... I miss it..

Not as badly as my XS650, though.

I believe this bike here http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycles/honda-ctx-200/

is the bike that was the ultimate inspiration for the Lifanoids.

I'd love to have one. I doubt they will ever get imported to North America, though - if you want a farm bike, most people just get a TW200.

See if you can track down a nice old XL200. That would fit the bill for you.

Yet another flavour. You find some interesting bikes Zack!

In most of the Lifanoids, imported at least .the push rod engine seems to be the majority player . I don't know if its a cost thing or a reliability or warranty decision. i also found that the last letter in the case of fml the l is for 200cc class and the fmm the last m is for 250cc class , so they didn't leave a spot for a 230cc class

if you had the choice for an upgrade for fml163 197cc push rod engine . either a fmm166 223cc overhead cam or fmm167 229cc overhead cam . would you go with the rule that more displacement is the better . both of these can be had at a reasonable price .

The OHC is superior to the OHV. Which OHC is largely academic, but with all else being equal, I'd go for the few extra cc's.

How much will the motor(s) be? I'm always on the CL lookout for the next Dirt Rat, although I'd like a street legal XL.

Good price. About $100 less than usual. No carb or electrics though but those should add up to less than another $100.
