A few months back I bought the 4 hp version of that motor brand new but broken starter housing for $60.00 from a local kid .It started on the second pull and has ran perfectly since then .I didn’t want it but my friend did so it’s his now but lives at my camp .Anyway it’s way better than I expected ,if you want to move it around in your car or bicycle ,you have to keep it vertical or drain the oil out of it (or you will break the starter housing ) .

Good lord! I took it out for a test run between rain showers. Way more power than the 18 HP that's for sure. Scared the hell out of me the first time I gave it a little throttle. Lol I barely have an hour on the engine. About half throttle I hit 35 mph. Definitely need more pitch on the prop. Can't wait to get some hours on the motor and the new prop. Definitely will do 40+ mph.

You might have to add some permanent weight in the bow to gain some control at WOT.


Maybe play around with a few sand bags...

I plan on installing self leveling trim tabs. Mean while, I converted it to a Yamaha 25. Lol On the wildlife reserve where I fish I can only have a 25hp max

I installed the trim tabs on Friday and took the boat out for a test ride. All I can say is wow! Those self leveling trim tabs are like magic. Eliminates the porpoising and make the boat handle so much better. Well worth the price. Only took about 20 minutes to install.
