CSC Zong based cafe style bike

Saw this on the CSC blog yesterday. Nice looking bike. No specs, pricing, etc. The second blog post seemed to indicate its going to happen. Looks to be the 230 cc CG based engine from the TT250.

I know the air cooled engine fits in with the vintage styling, but I would prefer the water cooled mill with the extra horses.

timcosby 03-14-2017 10:55 PM

the orange one looks nice ...hell they all look nice. i think they have another winner.

1cylinderwonder 03-15-2017 02:44 PM

its not a bad looking bike, i think the ssr bucaneer is a better bike, v twin, FI,disc brakes front and back, curious to see what the price will be for the csc.

simonjester 04-19-2017 06:11 PM

My guess is the price will be close to the TT250's.

Read the Test Ride Report

The Buccaneer and the 250CR are both nice looking bikes. But if you read the test ride report you'll see that the Buccaneer's FI is not very smooth and throttle response is unpredictable. No choke, engine revs very high at start up, before slowly returning to normal idle. Also no counter balancer, or a very ineffective one, as vibrations are awful at 5000 rpms (normal cruising speed) and your right foot goes to sleep. But the biggest "wart" is the very short, 6 months I think, limited warranty, and parts replacement is very limited, plus lack of SSR support and replacement parts. Plus list price is $3195.00. Probably double the 250CR's price. And is it street legal in as many states as the 250CR will probably be?
Other than that, it's great!
:hmm:

sshevie 04-20-2017 11:15 AM

I'm guessing it will be sub 2000 when it finnaly gets to market.

Less is Less

That would be too high of a selling price. The TT250 has more modern features than the 250CR, such as disk brakes front and rear, mono-shock rear suspension, upside down fork, more complete dash, and over-all a more modern frame and suspension. The only equal feature of the CR is that it utilizes the up-graded size engine of the TT. So if the selling price is close to the TT's, that would be a over sight of market reality! Less and older technology should retail for less! :)

All good points. You might be right.

I could be wrong, but on first glance, these look somewhat similar:
http://clevelandcyclewerks.com/ace-cafe/

According to this page
http://clevelandcyclewerks.com/ace-details/
these are priced, "under $3300."

So if the CSC CR comes out at under $2,000 that will be quite a bit cheaper.

Good Find

Simon,
Good find. Very similar to the CSC 250CR, but the Ace Cafe has more modern and expensive up-grades as compared to the 250CR. Such as polished and/or chromed frame, polished engine cases, bars, head light, accessories, wheels, and a fancy, gloss paint job with nice color combo. The Ace also has upside down fork, front and rear disk brakes, and dual sport tires. So that probably justifies a higher listed price. But both appear to have the same engine.
But is this Ace Cafe available in the USA and what is the name of the manufacturer or importer to the USA? And does it meet EPA and CARB criteria?

I presume it is available in the USA, since it is being sold by a company located in Cleveland, Ohio. As to EPA and CARB, I don't see that info on their website, so I don't know.

Dimension &a weight specs of the ZG 150cc Cafe Racer

Can anyone on this forum direct me to a website where I can see the measurements, weight specs of the ZG 150cc Cafe Racer that will be the basis of the new CSC 250CR? I'm really interested if it will fit my dimensions. :hmm:
I'm really interested in this, hopefully, upcoming model form CSC. :yay:

Maybe do a web search for Ryuka 125? I think that's what it was called earlier in the thread.

I was a little surprised to see that this 250 from Suzuki for 2017 has a rear drum brake.

simonjester 05-05-2017 06:39 PM

I was under the impression that drum rear brakes were something found only on "crappy Chinese" bikes, but I appear to have been mistaken. Here's a 2017 Yamaha 250 street bike with rear drum brakes:

Some more info on CCS250CR

I see today that CSC posted a little more of info on their upcoming 250CR on their Blog today. Looks like they're close to selecting the final design & specs, and placing an order with Zongshen.
No mention of color choices.

I hope they do away with the goofy 8 ball design on the tank and go with something more subtle like this:

Sinnis Paint Design

simonjester,
I agree with your thoughts on the "8 Ball" design on the CR, and the paint job and trim on the Sinnis 125 Cafe Racer.
Hopefully CSC is wise enough to offer an eye-catching paint scheme and attractive contrasting color trim.
I'm also eagerly waiting to see what CSC's selling price of their CR will be. I hope it's competitive and attractive to buyers. :hmm:

So apparently a bike having rear drum brakes is not just something you find on CB's.

Priced Under $2,000

The 250CR had better be priced UNDER $2,000!!!!!
The TT250 sells for $2,195 and comes with an USD front fork, disc brakes front and rear, a rear mono-shock, much more comfortable riders seat, a rear passenger grab rail and place for tail bag, variety of high gloss paint colors and more amenities than the proposed 250CR.
The 250CR has rear drum brake, old school dual rear baby shocks, and small diameter old school front fork, a flat black or flat white primer paint job and a riders seat that is a board disguised as a seat.
If the final MSRP is more than $1,895 I will NOT BE A PURCHASER!
I guess I'll just have to wait and see! :hi:
