Q and the sand dunes.

These are pics from a few weeks ago when I took Q to the local desert sand dunes to play. I had fun but a 200cc air cooled D/S is not an ideal sand dune machine, so I was being very careful to not biff or get stuck. I was successful. All in all it was a great day.

I'm looking forward to bringing the KLR to the same dunes. I bet that bike's power will be a lot of fun there, but God help me if I get that beast stuck. I'll go with a friend with a 4WD ATV to pull my arse out if need be! :wink:

Sand dunes? In Southeast Washington?! :P

Pardon the small pics. I must have had the phone on the wrong setting. It was so bright I could not see the screen. :roll:

For anyone interested, the dune area is the Juniper Sand Dune Winderness Area, about 7 miles northeast of Pasco.

Looks awesome doc - Thanks for sharing. I'll have to post some pics this summer of our NW Pennsylvania wilderness. We have lots of woods, logging type Trails, Back roads etc.....I'm looking forward to getting on the "Q" Soon. Got the battery on Trickle Charge now. Almost ready to rock and roll. One last stop on my "q" is the PA Inspection, which should be no problem as it is BRAND NEW - LMAO

I probably will be changing out the carb jets tonight after I close the store......The Sun is shinning here today and all the snow is FAST Disaapearing! 60 Degrees this Friday they are saying, but back to 32 on Saturday with snow. As long as the roads stay clear, I'll probably beging riding her.

Sounds like it will be good to ride soon, JTC, just be PARANOID of icy/wet spots, leaves, sand, and gravel, all of which will be abundant. Also bear in mind that as dumb as the average driver is, he/she will be even dumber than usual having not seen motorcycles on the road for a while. Finally bear in mind the miserable Q break in procedure which limits your speed to that of a riding mower. :P

I must admit, I don't like riding in the sand. :roll: I much prefer riding in rocks or mud, to riding in sand! :P

I don't like sand either, but where I live it's something I have to get used to. I'll take it over mud though. Most of my local trails are sandy/rocky. Some dirt some gravel. No wonder my tires don't last. :roll:
