Where is speed governor screw on gio 110cc ??

I have a gio 110cc atv. I heard that they have a speed governor screw, and I want to adjust it for the son so he can't go too fast. I have the manual but can't see anything about a speed governor screw. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Not 100% sure but I think its a screw that is on the throttle lever. The ones I've seen usually are there. Its usually a screw that sticks out that just looks like it needs to be tightened.

Did you buy the Gio new? If not, the previous owner might have removed it. Check around the throttle housing, as BangkokBlaster says. If there's no screw, then there should be a threaded hole where it belongs. You could pick up a replacement at Rona, just make sure that the screw sticks out of the hole by at least 1/2" when the screw is fully seated. You'll also need a jam nut to hold the screw in place.

The screw literally just limits the travel of the thumb lever.

Thank you all very much. I removed the throttle housing and saw it. Now, my only problem is finding the proper bolt to go into the hole on the left side of the bike, the plastic screw that was there broke. It looks like it's where the chain goes to. I am not very mechanically inclined, so all help is appreciated.

Thank you

I'm gonna need a photo for that. Can you post one? I use www.photobucket.com for photo hosting.

I have a picture uploaded. http://i777.photobucket.com/albums/y...c/IMG_1682.jpg

It is the screw on top that is broke. I have it laid on top for now. I went to 4 different stores and no one was able to get me the proper size. Thank you for your help.

Do you mean the chrome screw?

If so, I'd go to the local Honda dealer and see if they have one. If not, send a PM to Katoranger and see if he has a spare.

yes, the "chrome" screw on top....it is plastic and the guy I bought the bike from didn't tell me it was broke. I found out when I was cleaning the air filter and touched it. I went to a honda dealership here and they had nothing that would fit. I am new here, how do I message someone?? Sorry for asking so many questions. I am glad I joined this forum.

Thank You

Odd thing to break I'd have to say. I'd try other bike shops... or as W&G suggested, check with Kato if he hasn't seen this already.

You can PM somoene by clicking 'no new messages' which is in between "profile" and "Log out [username]" ... you then click "new post" and type in the name of the intended user "katoranger" and send them a message like you post in the forum here.

So that quarter size chrome screw on top of the housing (in the picture) is the speed governor screw? Tight = slower and Super loose = fast?

No, that was a second problem the OP had. It is not related to the throttle.
