Hello from Dalian Liaoning China
Hello, China riders.
I've not been riding for awhile, having moved from Arizona to rainy Ireland, then to Dalian China. The weather here is a lot better, making me miss riding back home. I figured I'd see how people drive here for a couple of months before looking for a bike, and decided on a new Lifan LF125. It has the circle-gear 5 speed gearbox, and surprisingly is water cooled. I'm not sure if it's EPA compliant, but I have a year and a half to decide whether to sell it or try to import it back to Arizona. I'll post pictures soon. It cost 8350 Chinese kwai, about $1200 USD, assembled, new battery & helmet, and lock. I bought it in Jinzhou, Liaoning province. It looks like they have loads of spare parts, all reasonably priced...of course I'm learning Chinese, but can't yet read the manual. It'll surely be interesting. Riding here is a little scary at times, but overall not much different from some other places I've been (Malaysia, Mexico). |

Thank you for posting the nice photos, BP! In particular, I enjoyed the closeup photo of the water cooled, 125cc engine.

Welcome to China Riders, BP. My, that's a big mudflap. Your bike looks great and I especially like the clear turn signal lenses. Can't wait to see your ride reports and photos from China.

yes, the mud flap is huge which is nice during this season when it rains a lot more. the roads yesterday were drying out, but there was still a lot of dirt & soot on the roads.
my bike isn't really properly registered, and i don't know how i will be able to do that since i'm not chinese. the local cops don't seem to care unless you have a bigger bike, and really don't like to hassle foreigners unless they do embarassing stuff like drink & ride. i took her out for a 30km ride yesterday, and noticed that some of the bolts were coming loose, so today i got out my good tools (not the ones that came with the bike) and checked everything out. surprisingly, this dealer torqued most things down properly, and marked the bolts with permanent marker. |
