first hard dirt ride

What up ChinaRiders?

Okay, so I bought my bike almost a year ago and so far I've put about 600 miles on it riding around my town for that time. Well, yesterday an old friend stopped by with a 200cc Yamaha quad and asked if I wanted to go to the river. Even though it was like 50 some degrees out with a 34 wind chill, we decided to go. Our river here in South West Kansas runs underground so the bed is just sand with a butt load of dunes and atv tracks ground in. Since my 07 Lifan GY-5 is the first bike that I've ridden, and all the miles I'd put on in the last few months were on the street, I have no experiance what so ever riding dirt (or sand) on a bike. I'd taken a four and three wheeler out there plenty, but the bike was different. That is to say IT WAS FREAKIN AWESOME!

I got some XP takin hard turns, learnin from bruises. I dumped the bike probably ten times yesterday , but didn't actually wreck the thing ever. Man there's some to be leaned here about riding in the sand dunes; like who leaves their mirrors on when riding where you are planing on possibly crashing? , and on my first big hill learned you gotta give it that little bit extra near the top, or you're gonna be backin that thing down and tryin again, HAHAHA.

After a few spills and I was gettin my feel for the terrain, I got up a little courage to take some smaller jumps, then the courage for some bigger ones. Man was that exhilarating! We were havin some fun!

The bike preformed pretty darn well, I'd have to say. a couple of times I went down I was like "OH CRAP! I hope this thing starts again cause the truck is like WAAAAYYYY down there man" But I was totally impressed that with NO trouble at all, my awesome ChinaBike sprung to life effortlessly. In the sand, the skinny stock street legal knobbies that it has on it did great in light to medium deep sand, but I did have to pull it out a couple times before I got the engine down in the deeper stuff , but that could have all been contributed to the green rider HAHA . I haven't done any mods but drilling the baffles for a deeper sound, and the bike preformed great for me from taking hills and turns, to racing my friend down the top of the dune

It was a fun day that I'm gonna remember for a long time. I'll get some pics on here soon.
