I think they should have left it in the crate for 35 yrs and made it a real collectible

Note the headlight fairing does not have a big #1 on it, my 2009 which is also red has no #1 on it.

I notice it gets 102 mpg...Maybe that is why it is a collectors item.

We discussed the collectable ones here on chinariders a few years ago--only those with the "Cool Boy" side stickers and the "auspicious" handlebar pad will be collectable, circa '06 vintage. The things people will claim as collectable...

the cartoon lion I believe...
I had only the cool boy covers, no handle bar pad...

I spotted this one on ebay too... It is a neat vin, but I think it will be quite some time before someone looks at a lifan as a collectors item.

So does this mean that every year there is a new "collectable" Lifan?

Mine came with the blinkers wired up backwards, maybe I can get about $2500 for it? It's the only bike around that indicates left when you want to turn right.

Is it still like that? That is easy to fix, just follow the wires from the blinkers back a bit to the connector, and swap the left for the right...

No, I fixed it when I assembled the bike, but it still indicates backward on the cluster.

I'd pay you at least $2.5m for it, if I had that much money to throw around!
