Hunting anyone?

Does anyone use their bike for hunting? I mean in the woods hunting not hunting for their next chinabike.
This fall will be the first season I will use a bike to get to my favourite hunting locations. I need to mount the Remigton 1187 shotgun on the bike for the 25 minute street ride and 15 minute trail ride to my best spot for deer. I would like to mount the crossbow or compound bow for that season as well. The firearms must be in a case for transport and locked.
Am I the only Bambi slayer out here in chinabike land?

I fully intend to take mine out this year, I hope it makes it through the whole hunt. I don't carry my rifle on the bike, my dad has a 4 wheeler with racks so I strap it to that when we are traveling. This year will be the maiden voyage, so we'll see. I don't expect to have any problems, my bike it pretty reliable.

A lot of states have a shotgun only law for deer. They are fine at 150 yards and closer. When I lived in Ohio I used one .No problems.

Yep, here in southern Ontario, there are shotgun and muzzle loader seasons only, and archery of course. No rifle season in the south of the province (mostly). I'd like to go out on the bike though, in the early season before it get too cold. That begins in October.

Same thing here is Saskatchefarm. Only I could never hit the broad side of a barn with a shotgun...

I dunno if I would want a wind-dam that size mounted to the front forks... If the front fender can cause squirrelies, I dunno... Might be better mounted to the rear frame, or cargo rack, where you break the wind for it.

How about mounting it to a large sissy bar, or something like?

Wow, I never knew that about the shot gun seasons. Here in Vermont, white tail capital of the East, everyone that hunts deer uses 30-30's, and 30-06's. Seems kinda wasteful as a shotgun is gonna ruin a lot of meat, and I could forsee a lot of wounded deer suffering needlessly. I guess it makes more of a "sport" out of it if you have to get that close. Learn something new everyday .

Most people that use shotguns shoot slugs, not buckshot.
I have them for my 16ga. and 12ga. Kinda like a big rifle.

Imeazy is right. Hunting deer with buckshot is usually frowned upon. With a 1x Red Dot sight mounted on the shotgun, you can easily put 3 slugs into a 3 inch circle at 100 yrds. Velosity in much slower than a rifle bullet, so the end energy is about the same. They are quite effective in the bush and Afganistan.
In areas where there is a lot of people that may be out and about, the limited range tends to lower the stay bullet from going out too far and popping a bystander.

You could use a canvas gun case with an attached sling and just sling it diagonally across your back.

hey, i didn't think there were any hunters here either. i just got my bike this year and was going to take it up hunting. i was just thinking of driving my truck up to the camp with my bike in the back, then take it out and find me a buck. i wasn't sure how to have the gun on me, i was just thinking of strapping it diagonal on my back with the sling. but that's probably illegal or something.
