unknown as to the key switch, but my hawk had a separate headlight switch on the left grip. mine was 2016, so not sure if they are different for more modern examples.

Without the ignition (key) cylinder none of the accessory electricals will work. This includes the headlights, brake and tail light, turn signals, and also the starter motor. I presume your guy hotwired the bike by removing the ground wire from the CDI that used to go to the ignition cylinder which allows the kick starter to still start the bike. You will probably also find that your turn signal controls and starter button do nothing.

As you've seen, you can get a replacement ignition cylinder online for very little money. If I were you I'd just order one of those, make sure you match the plug to the empty socket you'll find in your wiring harness behind the headlight, and be done with it.

Without the key, how do you get into the gas tank..? Don't the Hawks have a locking gas cap as well?

Depends on the year. Somewhere around 2019 or 2020 they switched to a non locking style with a top vent like a dirt bike 2015 to 2018 are the locking style

The guy I bought it from bent the rim of the tank so the cap will slide out.
Where can I buy the key stub that will let me unlock the anti theft switch? I doubt that the key I’m buying will have it.

Sounds like a stolen or theft recovered bike. I hope you got a title....

I would see if they cut the switch out before you do anything. If it's cut, and you don't have the ability to fix it you will likely need a wire harness.
