Fuel Filter TBR7

Getting ready to fill the tank for the 1st time and I noticed the bike didn't come with an in line fuel filter. I'm not planning on putting dirty fuel in it and the tank seems clean from what little I can see with a flash light. Some minor surface rust where the vent tube from bottom of gas fitting was welded inside the tank.
I'm thinking the engineering team at Tao Motors would surely have incorporated one when designing the fuel system if it was needed. Then again, they might have been busy value engineering the handlebars that day and left the fuel system up to an intern who forgot about a filter. Do the Japanese bikes they copy this fuel system from run in line filters?
A filter Could be cheap insurance against carb problems but, adds two additional fuel line connections that could become leak points.
How long does the plastic on these China bikes burn for anyway?

In-line filters are cheap, I replace them every time I change the oil. As for “leak points”, remember you aren’t dealing with something that is under shitloads of pressure here. For the price less than a gallon of gas, you can add a filter to save getting a carb all clogged up. Add a filter, fill it, ride it. Someone forgot to put one yours, no big deal

Seems like a got a warranty claim. Good point being a low pressure system. I have one so I'll add it. This forum makes it hard to convince yourself you should be lazy about these things and not do 'em

My 2021 Hawk didn't have one either. I added it before I put gas in. Looped the line around and over the air box si the bends wouldn't be to sharp.

I can’t speak for the TBR7, but the Hawk comes with a tank filter. It is located immediately under the fuel petcock and looks like a small bowl or reservoir. That is a filter system to filter fuel immediately after it leaves the tank.

Dusman, good call. I see that now on my TBR7 as well. I'm only guessing but, I'm thinking that's probably a screen to catch big stuff. Likely not a 30 or 40 micron filter. I could disassemble and check but, going to put an in line on either way I can visually view the fuel in.
Visually being able to see fuel in the fuel line is a quick reference for trouble shooting hard, or no start, conditions. Not that it's ever happened to anyone else but I've found it difficult to get motors to run when the fuel tank is empty and you think it's not.

People overthink this simple shit to death. The bike is basically sporting early 70’s tech, it’s pretty much stupid proof…. Common sense goes a very long way on these things. If a man can’t seem to grasp this ancient technology, take up golf…..

The problem with common sense is it's not common. Hence the value in sharing knowledge & experience.

Most times I think I have some common sense, then some times I have no sense.
