Fuel gauge sender upgrade super trivia

I know it’s unmanly and OCD to worry about the accuracy of the gas gauge but it’s driving me crazy and my therapist says it’s ok for me to try fix it . I have an idea of cutting the float rod and crimping in a section of aluminum tubing to extend the length.

Anyone know how much longer I need to make it?

Would lengthening the float rod screw up the calibration of the sending unit?

The TT 250 sending unit costs $35 with shipping!! I’m way too cheap to go that route!

I rebent my stock float using known amount of fuel to check accuracy. Took me a few tries to get it right but reads very accurate now. Digital dash stopped the bouncing of the analog gauge too.
