Bull 200 battery

I've been going out this past week to start and ride my 4 wheeler and have been having battery trouble,if it doesn't start right off there will not be enough juice left in the battery to start it.I just put the Chrome YB12N9-4B-1 battery on there less than a year ago.I ordered that battery from Chrome on 11-23-19 so the warranty run out in April 2021 even though it hasn't been on the 4 wheeler for less than a year.Getting ready to go and check my charging system which I don't think there is anything wrong with it.Apparently the OEM battery was a better battery than the Chrome heavy duty battery was.The Chrome battery is advertised as a high performance battery.

I think the vibration of the 4 wheeler has a lot to do with it,I'm still dealing with a lot of vibration even though it should be well broken in by now.

Has anyone tried any of the new lithium battery's?For about $110 I can get a lithium-ion battery that will out perform any lead acid battery on the planet and still fit in the oem battery box.I would still like to add a winch and some extra led lights and with the original battery I don't see being able to run that stuff.

Measuring 15.1 volts at the battery while atv is running.Might have cooked that battery.

Yeah, that's too high. I had the same issue on the 125cc. I ended up replacing the rectifier/regulator and taking care of the issue.

I used a battery hydrometer and one of the cells in the battery is dead.I have ordered a new voltage regulator/rectifier,matter of fact I ordered 2 from different places.Using a reverse bias test,one of the readings is way higher than the other 2 readings on the regulator/rectifier so I'm assuming it has gone bad and cooked my battery.So it looks like I'm going to have to order a battery too.I decided against getting a lithium battery,one reason is the cost and the other is safety.Regulator/rectifier go bad and start cooking a lithium battery it might just catch on fire and then all sorts of stuff could happen.

I reckon battery wise,I'm going with a Mighty Max AGM YB9A-A,haven't really had good luck with AGM batteries but it has 130cca compared to the 12N9-4B-1 85cca and will fit in the small battery box.

I got one of my new voltage regulators/rectifier and checked it with a dvm and where one of the pins on the old VR/R didn't show a reading it did show a reading so I guess something had burned out on the old VR/R to allow it to cook my battery.I'm suppose to get the other VR/R today so I will check it and compare it to my other new one.From what I'm reading their a dime a dozen to getting one that works right and stays working right.Their is no specs other than what you can find to test.

Well I got my 2nd new vr/r and it does not test the same as the other new one.I don't know whether it is good or bad or maybe the 1st new one is good or bad.I got my new battery yesterday also so the only thing I know is to put them on the atv and start it up and see if it is charging the battery plus see what the voltage is.I've done threw the old voltage regulator/rectifier away after checking it against the 1st new vr/r.What get's me is the second one doesn't test the same as the 1st one,could the 2nd one be bad also or maybe it is the 1st one is bad

According to this guys testing,the number 2 new vr/r fails test 2 and test 8.

The first one I bought tested the same as the old one. The second one I bought tested different. I would put your second one (you think is good) on with the new battery, start it up, and then check the voltage while running. The battery will be fine for a short check if the voltage is again is too high. Also, make sure the battery is fully charged before starting. You want to see what the voltage to the battery is on normal running mode.

Something else I wanted to say,the conventional YB9A-A lead acid battery will not fit because it will be too big,only the YB9A-A AGM one will fit on the Bull 200.

Waiting on it to warm up a little,9 degree's when I got up this morning at 6 o'clock.Plus we had over 10 inches of snow on Thursday last week.I measured 8 inches at 4 in the afternoon and it didn't quit till 9 that night.

Well I installed the new battery and the first new voltage regulator/rectifier I bought and now have 14.7 volts going to the battery.That MightyMax battery really has some cranking power but time will tell if it's worthy or not.I reckon it's fixed for the time being.

I went ahead and ordered another VR/R off Ebay for $6.95 w/free shipping just to have because I don't know if that other new one I have is any good or not.I do know I'm going to keep an eye on it and check the voltage every now and then just to be sure I'm not cooking another battery.
