White Sight Glass

My bike has roughly 60 miles on it, and I changed my oil about 30 miles ago. Today I looked at the sight glass and it was white. It seems to be clearing up, but I was wondering if this is common?

It's about 50 degrees outside and I have taken my bike for a few short zipps. I do let it warm up beforehand.

When I changed the oil I made sure the bike was warm, I drained the oil from the plug at the bottom of the engine. I did notice the oil plug threads looked a little milky like there was anti-seize on it, but figured it was residue from the factory oil. I filled it with 1qt of 20W50 and everything has seemed great, I just randomly noticed the white sight glass today. The oil itself looks clean and not milky at all which leads me to believe this is some sort of natural vapor from the oil. Maybe I did not get the oil hot enough?

If anyone has any info, I would sure appreciate it.

Here is a pic: The oil sits between H & L when the bike is level.

Busted head gasket and radiators draining into the base. JK It's normal. I see it sometimes i the winter months. Good to running and get the oil hot enough to burn off the moisture.

Condensation. Short zips in cool weather are generally the cause. Oil can take a while to get hot enough to evaporate that condensation on a cooler morning.

Just like Jerry said, it's normal. It's just condensation. Sometimes it happens if you short trip often.

Off topic,
Did you happen to remove that 24 mm side bolt to check the screen to see if any metal shavings were present?

While you are doing maintenance, don't forget to change the winter air in your tires to summer air.

Dan....at my first motorcycle dealership job in the early 70's,....we did have the young kids/bike assemblers,...convinced they needed to change out the Japanese air in the tires,..for American air.
