push rod vs OHC - reliability and repair-ability opinions

Hello all,

Still looking into which bike to purchase.

Im considering the DB36/RX-250 compared to the Hawk 250.

What are the major differences in reliability (what wears out first) and repairability (what things wont I be able to do) when comparing the OHC engine in the DB36 vs the pushrod in the Hawk?

What wears out first is the tires. lol If you go through the whole bike and grease and lube up everything that should be greased or lubed these bikes will last a very long time. Engine wise they both have there advantages. The Hawk pushrod engine has less parts on the valve train so less to wear out of break. But the single lobe cam kind of limits you to the lower RPMs which are perfect for low end grunt. The OHV engine will have a wider powerband over the CG engine but more change of timing chain stretch or breakage. Honestly either will be good.
My Hawk is over 3 years old and 7800 miles. Nothing has worn out except tires.

Most of the information in the thread will apply to any of the Chinese bikes. Not just the Hawk. http://www.chinariders.net/showthread.php?t=20331
