Hello From NC

Greetings everyone. I am a new member here just gathering up information and knowledge. I am fixin' to think about considering, to ponder the thought of purchasing an RPS Hawk 250. I am not new to motorcycling or wrenching. I am aware of the set up and maintenance requirements. That is actually what interested me in the Hawk. I am looking for a winter project to play around with during the coldest months of the year. I actually enjoy doing mods and routine maintenance in the garage with the radio on and a beer close by. It is sort of therapeutic for me. I can't sit still on the couch all day on the weekend watching sports. I have to be doing something. I have a Kawasaki Versys 650 already and it never asks anything of me. It's always there ready to go. No loose bolts, hard starting, rough idling, or anything else. As far as wrenching it is a little boring which I guess is a good thing for something that you need to rely on for longer trips. The other option is to get a beater on craigslist but I don't want to get into engine problems and broken plastics. It seems like the engine is the strongest point of the Hawk and other 250cc class Chinese bikes. I think it would be fun putting it together and messing with the carb jets, shock oil, etc. I may grab one once I sell some stuff from my garage. As cheap as they are you could almost justify buying two and tearing one down for parts needs in the future. Thanks to everyone for all of the great information.

Welcome aboard. The Hawk is a good little bike. I have over 4500 mile on mine. I still have that " I can't believe what I paid for this bike" grin on my face. It's a good solid bike. If you like wrenching and tinkering as much as I do you will love this bike. Just look at the links in my signature for the possibilities of mods you will have to keep you busy. My only problem is I'm running out of mods and my have to look for another project bike. lol

Thanks for the warm welcome. I am most likely going to get one. If I don’t I’ll always wonder if I should have tried one. Worse case I have a little fun with it, mod it a little, and let one of my nephews have it. I rather spend money on a $1400 bike and decide it’s not for me than $14,000. I know people who have done that! Its always nice to have a second bike around if someone wants to ride with me around town when I’m on my Kawi. Now I need to search for the best distributor. I see there is a section for that also.

What the heck, you only live this life once. I just ordered a green one from Q9. I’ll post the details in the enduro section of the forum when it arrives. Hopefully nobody puts a fork through it in transit. Stay tuned.

Be sure you request and get a MCO. you'll need that for title/license. they don't necessarily send them.

Curious to see how you do with title/registration. I had problems and had to get mine titled in SD. others here in NC have not had a problem.

Will do. It probably depends on which location you go to and which clerk you get that day. Did you mean South Carolina or South Dakota?

that's South Dakota. I don't have a SC address. in SD, they titled it using my NC address on the title.

Greetings!

Welcome to the forum! Q9 Powersports seems to be one of the better dealerships. What part of NC are you from? I lived in Elizabeth City and Raleigh for a while. Great State and lots to do there!

Keep us posted on what you do to your Hawk and where you take it! Pictures are always appreciated!

Enjoy the Ride!

Welcome to the forum. I'm in Cornelius, but trying to get back up to Boone. Much better riding up there.

You are probably trying to get away from that Lake Norman traffic also!
