Super Cub clones?

I'm looking for good scooters with large wheels for my wife and myself to carry around while RV traveling. I want the larger wheels so they will be better on gravel and rougher roads. She's never ridden a motorcycle, so I'm hoping that a scooter won't intimidate her. I want enough cc's to feel safe in traffic, which I guess means at least a top speed of 60 mph.

I like the Honda Super Cub styling. I have a Pitster Pro LXR250 with a Zongshen engine, so I know China produces some good machines. I just don't know which brands of scooters are of high quality.

Can you guys point me in the right direction about what to look at?

You probably want to join 49ccscootboard (don't let the name fool you--there is discussion about all size scooters. They are very Chinese friendly as well with the forum's owner getting all kinds of power out of his Chinese Frankenstein monsters. Mostly discusses mods, but I know people can point you in the right direction. How much mechanical skill do you have? That will help determine which brands you can consider.

"at least a top speed of 60 mph"

A stock 125 -150 will not do 60mph on a flat road (except the Yamaha SMAX). They are more comfortable at 50 -55 mph. You may need a big wheel (16 inch) 200cc scooter to reach 60mph on the flats.

Awesome find! Those Cubs have a timeless design.

I do have to laugh at all the protective metal caging around the rear taillight and the turn signals--were these intended for riot duty or zombie apocalypses?
