issues with spark plug DR8EIX #2202 for Hawk

I'm having difficulty changing out the Hawk spark plug.

1. The spark plug DR8EIX #2202 (recommended by many here) doesn't seem to accept my spark plug wire. Perhaps a piece is stuck up in the spark plug connection wire? see picture below.

2. the Hawk spark plug wrench that came with the bike isn't big enough to screw in the spark plug (I'm assuming I need a bigger spark plug wrench?)

Thanks for going easy on me... I'm not a gear head, but I'm learning a lot!

The tip needs to be removed. It will unscrew off.

DR8EXI #2202 takes an 18MM socket. That's what I use. Had good luck with .034 Gap.

I took the Hawk plug wrench and "adjusted" the factory stamped wrench with a cressant wrench 1 by 1, it'll do now in a pinch.

Auto parts stores will sell spark plug sockets for easily ratcheting off the spark plug. I know that Advance Auto Parts (at least the one locally where I live) sells the NGK #6681 Iridium IX spark plug that fits the Hawk perfectly. It uses a 3/4" socket.
