I Like My Jeep

Mrs. C and I hooked the Chez Fromage Lite to the Jeep for a little R & R.

What we got was several inches of rain, new rain gear, a muddy Jeep, and the idea of maybe upgrading to a bit larger trailer.

Jeep pics.
Mrs. C thinking this was muddy.

The above was courtesy of 'Samantha, the GPS voice', and USFS roads. Not a good mix. Later, though, we ended up in an area where we had water over the hood crossing a 'puddle'. Throw in some MORE rain and soon the Jeep looks like this.

The Jeep took everything thrown at it and slogged right on through it. Never missed a beat. As a reward, it will get all new gear lube tomorrow and maybe even a bath.

These were the only pics I took with my phone. Some nice pics of the U.P. are on my Fuji but I'm just too crapped out to do much more than this until later.

Making memories! Looks good before you got it all muddy but looks great when it's used like it should be

A clean Jeep is an unloved Jeep.

Glad you got to escape !!! By way, that's the greenest grass I have ever seen coming from a place where it actually rains.

We are on track for 8 days of 100 degree days, high pressure. Won't see that kind of grass down here.

Wow! Look at that beautiful, thick green lawn! Nice! Just a memory here in Volcano...

How do you like that Viking pop-up? I sold our Fleetwood/Coleman pop-up last year and have been kind of missing it lately.

We've liked it quite a lot...until this week. We rarely stay anywhere more than two nights. This time was four, with three nights of rain. The small size made for something we might have appreciated when we were newlyweds, forty two years ago. Now, not so much.

I've been reconsidering a larger tent with a couple of cots and chairs, whereas Mrs. C talks about a larger hard sided trailer with A/C and a shoilet.

We shall see.

Flickr album of the trip.

Didn't care much for Mackinac Island, too touristy.

No pics of the new rain gear, either. We got Frogg Toggs Pro-lite and those are the catsass. About the only complaint I have is no pockets. But, they breathe well and provide just a slight bit of insulating. Wasn't happy about having to buy the new gear, as I have a ton of stuff here, but the gear I opted for went from water repellent to sponge in a heartbeat. Left bits of lining all over me, too. Looked like I had a very bad case of dandruff.

A hard-side trailer is really nice to have, but anything substantial is a tough pull with a short wheelbase Jeep.
