The walking excavator is very Orwellian.

twilight of internal combustion

Fisker claims that the EMotion will have a 400-mile electric range and will be able to reach 161 mph. The company also says its UltraCharger will be able to provide the car with 100 miles of range in just nine minutes. The EMotion will be introduced as a 2019 model and will cost $129,900 with the ultralarge battery pack.

Cool car for sure. Out of my price range and I'm more of a truck guy but it's interesting. They've come a long way

Agreed. Before doing the accounting gig I worked for 8 years at a hospital. I saw what big cars did to little cars, and their occupants. Physics wins before airbags. My commuter car / kid transport is a Dodge Ram 2500.

Apart from the abnormally large selection of bikes in my stable, the Missus and I drive an '02 Suburban as our daily driver, and we both have large pickup trucks that we drive for our respective jobs. I have nothing against small cars, but I have zero confidence in the capabilities of the other drivers out there. Of all the cars I've ever had in my life, I think I miss my Miata and my Fiero the most.

What a great line!

I have a big commute. 170 round trip daily. I'd love to drive my Chevy 4X4 every day but it would put me in the poorhouse....plus I need to be ready for snow.
Jeep Patriot fit the bill perfectly. Brand new for 20k, great in the snow, decent protection plus 26 mpg. Not bad mileage for a 4X4 that can hold 8' lumber.

my wife drives a jeep liberty. It weighs a little over 4,000 pounds, so it is no micro car. She too likes bigger cars but the parking garage where she works barely accommodates clown cars let alone my big ole Ram 2500.

We also have a 2008 Mustang GT that was my wife's pre-kid car. It's got a whopping 38K miles on it, and we bought it new.

If she ever feels the need to drive something bigger I also have a K3500 dually diesel mason dump truck. It weights 8000 lb empty without the 8.5 plow hanging on the front of it. She could use the plow to clear a parking spot where the clown cars were at work.

Dream truck... one day it will be mine:

Don't think I haven't been eyeballing that. I already got 100k on the Pat and it's a 2014 and my buddy works at the dealerhship. Could be time for a change.
