New Hawk 250 rear axle and nut stripped from factory.

After 109 miles I needed to ajust chain. Loosening the rear axle nut was difficult and upon tightening would not tighten. Initial response from dealer is to sell me a replacement axle and nut for $35 with shipping. Any suggestions on what Japanese model axle would fit?

cant see enough of it from the picture ,but it might just be a bolt you can get at a fastener store .Red hunter probably has a googled list of replacements somewhere as well .

Yep just a bolt and nut. Best place is ACE Hardware. Appropriate bolt, nut and washers and you're all set for $10.00. Don't be afraid to buy too long and cut shorter. Just need to make sure distance of threads from bolt head so threads are not under bearing.

assuming it is the same as the TT250? you could order one from csc for less than 10 bucks for everything http://www.cscmotorcycles.com/TT250-...HEEL-s/352.htm

Just had the pleasure of rebuilding one. tt250 is the exact same rear end more or less. Swap the bearings while you're in there. And make sure there's a spacer between the bearings. My bike came without one so the rear right bearing exploded.

I've noticed when these bikes have one thing that goes wrong, scrutanize everything else too. Only thing I can guess is they have a "short" assembly line over there that some bike go through...

If you catch things before they go tits up, even the problem bikes are a steal.

The TT250 axle will work. However it is 1/2" shorter in length & when tightening nut to 35 lb torque there will be no threads showing & nut is flush with end of axle.

That makes it no different than almost any other swing arm axle I have ever worked with.
