hawk Throttle play adjustment

I adjusted the thumb screw as far as it would go and there was still a bunch of play in the throttle. How else can I adjust this?

Also I broke the adjuster as I tried to tighten it to much and it came off.

I have had to wind a few turns of thin solder wire on the cable. If you adjust it to get as much slack as possible, then wind a few turns of the solder wire around the cable, it should have the effect of making the cable housing work like it is about 1/8th inch longer. But before you do that, take the top off of the throttle valve housing on the carburetor and make sure the cable end is in the right place. Pretty obvious when you look on the throttle valve body.
