Chinese Motorcycle from motobuys

Anyone on here seen this bike or possibly own one? I've been looking for a more street dedicated bike and found this one. Looks pretty cool. Listed as a Lancer XT250

Two issues I see with Motobuys--1) the more serious issue is they have left a few members high and dry for weeks with no MCO to register their bikes; they cite something about 'the distributor, blah, blah' even though, in the case of the Hawk motorcycle, the distributor himself has written here on chinariders the simple process any of their dealers needs to go through to get the MCO from the distributor.

2) they rename seemingly every bike they have using defunct old Chinabike brands such as in this case 'Lancer' and in other cases, 'Jetmoto' and in other cases 'Vento.' These are old brands no longer sold in the US (and probably anywhere else), so why they have recycled the names, I don't know? In one interesting case, they took the Hawk, and named it a Lancer Hawk, charging $1395 (Hawk is seen on the photos) http://www.motobuys.com/lancer-enduro-250.html and then they have a 'Vento Series Enduro 250' which is clearly a Hawk but with no decals, but the EXACT same photos as seen on Ricky Power Sports, the ACTUAL distributor for the Hawk in the US, and a $1349 price http://www.motobuys.com/vento-hen-enduro-250cc.html Both are clearly Haosen Hawks, but two different prices, and two different (defunct and resurrected) 'brand names.'

I purchased the "Vento" from them and got the hawk. Had no issues with my MCO I mailed it to them and got it back in 30 days. Grant it I did call them every other day to keep them on their toes about it. But overall I had no issues with them. Only took 5 days for me to get my bike from them so shipping was quick.

From my own research it would appear the bike they advertise as a "lancer" is actually made be Lifan a supposedly reputable company that make reliable bikes. http://www.chinamotorrider.com/5-top...manufacturers/

ok, I was not going to say anything. Then some 12 hours after reading this, it was just eating away at me.
So I had to say something.
PLEASE!!! For the love of your own sanity, PLEASE don't buy one of these.
You are buying the proverbial " Smoke & Mirrors"
They are snake oil! BOTH THE BIKE, , AND MOTOBUYS!
1) The bike itself: Make no mistake about it, , this is NOT a sport bike!!!
It uses an air cooled 223cc single cylinder engine found on all the sub $1300
china dirt bikes / Dual Sports. Now, it is not, in itself, a bad engine. But the first time a Honda CBR250R leaves you in the dust, you will be sad. I promise!
2) The Company: Motobuys has left so many customers pissed off, WHY chance it? If you insist on an Chinese "Sport Bike", fine. Unto each their own.
But do yourself a huge favor and purchase one somewhere else.
3) Why THAT bike????
I am asking this seriously. Why that one? You can buy a VERY low mile used Ninja 250, CBR250R, or even better in my opinion, an older Ninja 500, for almost the exact same price. And if you DID buy one of the above mentioned, and ride it say, , , 2 years, , , and decide you want something else, , , you could very likely get 90% to 100% of what you paid for it back out of it then! The $2000 china bikes, , I swear to you 2 years later you MIGHT get $500 out of it selling it yourself. You seriously need to keep that in mind.
Now, I do not know you. And you do not know me.
But, as odd as it may sound, I DO care about every human being in here.
And I so not want you to make a mistake.
I am all for the Chinese scooters, Dual Sports, and 1000% for the awesome RX3!!!!!!!
But as for street bikes, , , , sorry, , , the Japs have that market NAILED!!!!
New or used!!!
.
There. I got that off my chest. I will sleep better tonight now.

oh, one last thing, that bike has a 12KW engine. Witch is 16 Horsepower.
By comparison, the Honda CBR250R, that is the weakest of the Jap entry level sportbikes, is 23 horsepower. And believe me, in the world of motorcycles,
7 horsepower difference is a LOT.
The CBR250R tops out at 91 MPH ( with MY ass test riding it )
But from 81 to 91 was a very slow creep in gaining speed.
I would bet the dirt bike powered China "sport bike" would only
hit 70 on a downhill run, tail wind, and a prayer.
But that is just a 30 years of experience educated guess.

Dang! I even feel better now! LOL!
I guess the flip-side of CA only allowing very few CB's here to be street legal can really be a blessing in disguise...
