How tight should I do the spark plug?

btw. What's the "generic guide" (ie. w/o torque wrench) similar to above for US brands (AC Delco/ Champion...) ?

All I have ever done is gone snug and just a hair more as you can feel the copper crushing. A fellow in the late 50's showed me. You only need a wrench with a couple inch handle to put a plug in. I cringe when I see some one with a 1/2" full sized ratchet cranking a plug down.

I am an expert at stripping spark plugs in aluminum heads. I put a steel insert in my current engine and so far it appears to be rock solid, it was an excellent upgrade.

Hold the wrench with the edge of your fist touching the extension. Using only wrist strength make it tight. Holding the wrench this way will limit the torque you can apply to maybe 10 foot/pounds and you won't overtighten.

Only once have I had a plug back out. That was on a Ford Probe GT Turbo (never should have sold that car...). Overtightening can cause some more serious damage.
