yayaya, ordered dirtbike!! (ver speede 3)

so after reading the two other speede threads I decided to take the plunge and order a speede (so I guess this is the third speede thread)

I am pretty excited and I have a friend (who has been riding since a kid) who is going to help me put it together.


as far as speede goes, what tools do I need when she gets here? does it come with the tools?

also how long do you estimate it takes to put together?

man, I am pumped!!


a little bit about my situation and why I chose a china bike for those who are going to wonder.

I live in birmingham alabama, southside to be exact, which is in the city. my drive to work takes about 10 mintues by car and on the weekends I dont drive anywhere I dont need to. I can go 20 minutes out of the city and hit nature, there are tons of trails, rivers, and old mining towns out here just begging to be explored.

most of these bikes come with a tool kit ,but they are junk. mine was together when i bought it, i helped SamM put his viva together not very hard to do with 2 people . i would buy a tool set from sears or an auto parts store if you don't allready have some metric tools.

Basic set of metric hand tools and crescent adjustable wrench should do it. Some screwdrivers too.

Don't count on the bike's toolkit to be complete.

Also have some axle grease and blue loctite ready. Graphite lube for the cables, chain lube for the chain.

2 quarts of oil. It should hold about 1.1 liter I think maybe that is 1.1 qt. I use shell rotellaT 15w40 available at walmart. I also buy it by the gallon and that is good for 3 plus oil changes which you are going to want to do by about 1000 miles. Then every 1000 after that or whatever you are comfortable with.

Change the oil before starting. Drain out the shipping oil.

Might need to air up the tires and charge the battery and fill with acid.

It'd be nice to have a cycle jack or a 5 gallon bucket to set it on when you're trying to get the rear wheel on.

Read through the dual sport prep checklist too. It covers the basics for getting it ready to ride. I spent about a half day on mine before starting it up.

Congrats bronevaya!!!

I spent about 6 hours putting mine together/prep. Having a couple friends to help you get it off the shipping frame and onto a crate/bucket helps. parallax and I both found that all the nuts and bolts were tight but check anyway.

Tools needed: 8mm, 10mm & 12mm sockets and wrenches, 2 medium or large crescent wrenches for front axle and bottom shock nut. The bottom shock bolt head has a large allen head socket which I did not have so I put a vice grips on it to keep it from spinning while tightening the nut. #3 phillips screwdriver for the side plastics, a #2 (average size) will work but the #3 is the right one.

There will be extra nuts/bolts. Follow the prep thread for fluids and lube issues. There is a zerk fitting on the swingarm. Check my thread again for some of the discrepancies/oddities that I came across. The mushroom washers are for the front fender.

Remember to take your time, it's not a race. Check everything twice. If something doesn't seem right, think it through, check with your friend, you guys will figure it out. Have fun! If you get frustrated, take a break and relax.

I've manged to sneak in a few more short rides on my Speedee and everything is working flawlessly. I'm at 1825' elevation and the needle on the carb seems right although I haven't been able to do a good spark plug reading yet.

I've hit a snag!!

I live in an apartment so I had it shipped to my friends house. They sent me an email saying they needed to verify the billing address. Has this happened to anyone who has dealt with powersportsmax? I left them a message and hopefully I can get this settled monday morning. I wish they would have called me friday instead of just sending me an email.

Speedee Cool boy, Hmmm??? 1st you have to know what a Cool boy is, 2nd you have to know what "Auspicious" means... and to truly be a Cool boy you must know what the "Auspicious" animal is and what he holds???

Then you must know who is the Ultimate Cool Boy???
