bad time on a ride
well it started off when my chain jumped off the sprocket i fixed that went 75 feet and my kick starter fell off. i doubled back and picked it up got to where i was going put it back on. got to the next stop and noticed a bolt fell out of my muffler big rattle. left there and noticed my tail lights didn't work. luckily i was near my parents house so i fixed that there. i still gotta find a bolt for my exhaust . i made it home safe and all i need to do is get a bolt for my muffler. all is still good other wise.

Pumpkin,
I thought that was you! Rob and I passed you in front of the Cassville V.F.D. Did you see us wave? We were are Barnes & Noble drinking foo-foo coffee and reading all the new bike mags. Glad you made it home alright! Did you come by the house? Sam

I picked up a large supply of metric bolts from an auto parts store and it has come in very handy. The bolts are all seperated in a plastic parts container and didnt cost that much.I have also seen bolt kits at motorcycle shops that have general bolts that we may need/could use.
I was going to make up a bike specific bolt kit to sell but then I see the bolts are actually very easy to get around here except for the odd size ones. Sorry to hear about your bad ride (it happens from time to time) My ride saturday went very well, we went up north with my 200 and the wifes raptor. I beat the bike hard (bottomed out the suspension a few times hard) and the trails were perfect albeit a bit rocky with tree roots but very tight winding thru the woods, bermed up, just plain fun. I can say now that I think we have our bikes setup well enough to be reasonably dependable, OK actually after how I rode mine very dependable.I do wonder how much longer the suspension can handle the abuse though. |

Did you check the engine mounting bolts very VERY closely?
By closely I mean remove them one by one and look for cracks, damage of any kind. My wifes bike had a vey loose chain and we found it had a broken bolt (lower rear) causing/allowing the engine to shift position in the frame. Also we noticed a lot of vibration was caused by loose/broken engine mount bolts on both our bikes. After doing the bolt replacment we havent had any of those types of problems. I have ridden both our bikes very VERY hard offroad and can say that with a bit of "above & beyond" prep they can be very durable.I'll have to try and get a video of the pounding I put on these bikes at times. |

i had to do that when i broke one of those bolts . when i went to put the new one in the hole was gone . removed and checked all bolts then about 1000kms ago. i think imho that the chain is cheap. i am going to replace the chain and sprockets this winter when i put my new tires and wheels on. i'm all most out of adjustment.

Ya I still have the 428 set-up, but I got a decent chain when I did my tires. Fatboy250 have you checked my gallery, I'm no longer eyeballing your tires

I replaced the stock chain with the sprocket change after reading about the stock chains.
