I am very jealous.

I have never ridden a snowbike I bet they are fun. Bring a lot of extra gas...

I often thought it would be great to ride a plated snowbike through town!

OK OK here you go

The kit corners extremely well

hit a small jump

Unfortunately the bike seized a short while later, the next replate I'm going to request larger tolerances as this is the second time this has happened in under 40hrs run time

Pics look great. I was wondering how hard it would be to turn. Sorry it siezed but at least two stroke semi cheap and easy to replace top end. Snow tracks put a severe load on an engine.

I'm sorry to hear of the seizure. I hadn't thought of it before, but I'm sure a snowtrack does put a large load on an engine.

Bummer about the seizure. By larger tolerances, do you mean the piston to cylinder relationship? If so, I'm not sure how far you could go before encountering piston slap.

I doubt it would need much the difference between seizing and running good is very very small. My guess is these bike have a clearance set up for typical low rpm low load use.

I agree. Since a typical overbore is 0.5mm, you'd want to be inside of that number.

standard clearance for a cast piston is .05 to .07mm, i will be talking to the technician at us chrome when my cylinder arrives about how much bigger would be necessary. I would guess it will be in the .1mm range

I wonder if 4 strokes pull snowbike kits better/more reliably due to low end torque?

Most track kits are pulled by 450 four strokes. likely because that's whats available, and 250 two strokes don't have the power needed to pull a track, The 380 makes similar power to a 450 without a valve train. I think a purpose built 380 will easily be more reliable and of equal performance of a typical 450.

A 380 ported for max power could easily over power a 450 at the expense of some low end, but that would negatively impact putting around tight and gnarly single track.
