Throttle screw, how far is is supposed to be turned in?

Not sure what this is actually called, I am referring to it as the throttle screw. I took it right out when working on the brake grip but not sure if I moved the nut on it so not sure how much to turn it in or out. What is this even supposed to do?

Thanks!

this screw (and nut) are for restricting the throttle. If it is just you (an adult) riding it I would remove it so that you can get full throttle.

Yep, removing that screw is the first upgrade on the list.
