Does anyone know much about ATK's?

I really like this bike!

As you all know what I like is performance and different. This bike has both in spades. Here is a bike that will keep up with Brother Spud's highly modified XR!

This bike has the credentials. WP spspension, handmade frame, top notch wheels and components, and a Rotax engine.

How would a guy figure what it's worth? This person had it listed a few weeks ago for $2,500.

Given it's orphan status I'd be thinking more like $2,000 but I don't know.

Hardly any miles of the thing.

How is the parts support? I think it is the only made in America dirt bike.

Rotax engines are use in many bikes and ATV's worldwide and parts and support are easy to come by. They were also used in KTM's for a while back in the 90's. They are made in Austria and known for longevity. They are kinda like an XR600 engine in terms of performance and reliability. Which is to say quite good.

The wheels and suspension are high end stuff and also used on KTMs and should be available. The air filter is a K and N. The brakes are Brembo. That stuff is commonly available. I'm sure the chain and sprockets cross refrence to something I can get.

As far as bodywork, fuel tank (3+ gallons, BTW), and seat cover I'm sure that would be harder to find.

The frame and swingarm are unique and handmade and not likely available. As far as bearing go I'm sure the'd cross refrence to something on the shelf.

Blue book is $2,650.

I don't know much about the ATK's, but I vaguely recall watching a motocross race at Antler lake and being hugely impressed at the 4 stroke ATK's keeping up with and passing the hyper two strokes! I stopped following the races and had all but forgotten them till you posted... Cool bikes!

A little asking on the ATK forum shows that they are solid bikes and most everything is available through ATK or KTM. There are also a couple sopecialty outlets for parts. It looks easier than getting parts for many of the bikes I've owned.

The kickstarter is on the right also. It has electric start as well.

The ATK forum seems to be populated by friendly knowledgeable folks that are happy to help. They deal with many of the same issues we CB guys deal with. Finding parts and support...

I may look at it. Trying to talk myself out of it.

It's priced very low according to KBB and the guys on the forum.

Where does the exhaust exit the muffler? :?: Perhaps it's an optical illusion, but it appears the end cap of the muffler is blocked off. 8O

Life is short, and summer is shorter still. If you like the ATK, get it before someone else does. :P

It's a very interesting botique bike. The frame is a single sided crome-moly affair!
