check your bearings more often than me ;) (pics)
had the sprocket side rear wheel bearing blow up on me this last weekend, I had to push the bike out but luckily not too far. keep those things greased!
the two balls at the bottom are actually one that had split in half.

Wow! I've never seen a ball bearing split before. 8O
With any of the bikes that I've been serious about, I've installed sealed bearings. I've never had one come apart on me.

it was a sealed bearing (lower left pieces) , didn't seem to help it all that much though the hub also has and attempt at a seal too but the silt i ride in gets through them pretty easily it seems, this is my third set I've worn out in the back, but the first time one grenaded like that. 8O

Thanks for posting the prudent warning, WA. 8O Every time I remove the rear wheel I inspect all parts of it thoroughly, especially the wheel bearings.

Good reminder.
I should check the YZ again. It has THREE rear wheel bearings, two on the sprocket side. Still not sure how that works...

having two on the sprocket side helps it spread the load of the engine pulling on it without gernading
