Hey Ya'll From Florida

Hey Guys. I'm new to Chinese bikes so this forum has been a great insight.
I'm looking into buying a USED Shineray GY200. The bike is a year old with 500miles on it. I took the bike out for a test ride and I was really impressed. My only present concern with this bike is that the owner says he has never done an oil change and that he put the bike together out of the crate. Which leads me to believe the bike is still running on factory oil (possibly?)... How bad is this?

Thanks,

Mudd

An oil change right out of the box is something we all like to do here on principle. If it's mandatory or not no one knows.

For the most part, for all the minor issues we have with these bikes, engine problems are pretty rare.

My opinion is if it looks and runs good, has a clear title, the electrics and all are OK, and the price is right and the oil is not low I'd go for it.

If you buy it change the oil right away.

By right price I'd be thinking less than $750, and that would be for good-excellent condition.

Welcome!

Definitely mandatory. As I've been led to believe, some of the engines have been filled with fish oil. I'd change it before running it, then start it and warm it up properly, then change it again. You'll be shocked at how nasty the new oil looks, despite having only been in the engine for 15 minutes.

After that, you're good to go. Make sure you clean the filter each time you change the oil.

Welcome! We are glad you joined us.

I agree with FastDoc. If the oil isn't low, and the bike is still running well after 500 miles, I'd buy it for the right price. However, I would certainly change the oil right after I brought the bike home.
