TGB 150 Express scooter

This is my new bike--a used 2004 TGB 150cc Express (pizza delivery scooter). 1200 miles on the clock and runs like new. It had been recently serviced and being sold on consignment at a scooter dealer in the Phoenix area. Don't laugh at the helmet/goggles, okay, laugh, but in my haste to drive 3+ hours from Yuma to Phoenix, and to drive the scooter to a friend's home coincidentally about 5 miles away, I forgot my helmet let alone the bare minimum legal riding gear for Arizona--sunglasses (or a windshield if your bike has one!). The seller offered to sell this setup to me, but he loaned it for my short ride anyway. Initial impressions are great, especially considering it is over 10 years old, and there is a lot of power. I got it up to 55 mph (for a short burst) on a 45 mph zone, and the bike had no problem cruising between the speed limit and 50 mph. When I get back to pick it up next week, I should have more reviews and more photos (but without the helmet and goggles ).

I would have bought the helmet and goggles.

Looking forward to more pics!

I could still buy them! I guess, with this bike, I will have to post in 'Other' brands since this is technically not Chinese but Taiwanese.

That's still Chinese by our wide definition.

Cool scoot!
I'd like to see more pics of the large pizza carrier box thing on the back.

Cheers!

X2 on both counts. You make the helmet and goggles look good. We eagerly await more photos.

Taiwan is definitely China. Any and all products from Taiwan are properly discussed in the main forums of this website.

Got the bike home today--7 hours of driving to and from the Phoenix area in a Uhaul rental pickup truck--not a great road trip machine . My first issue is the taillight was out. I have several bulbs sitting around since the TMEC has an appetite for bulbs. I put the bulb in, and there seemed to be some kind of short--the rest of the lights went out once I installed the bulb, and then playing around with the bulb resulted in all the lights working, but not the brake light...I was actually going to ride it to get a couple of pizzas, but it being night, I want to make sure the electrics all work. I am thinking it might actually need a battery charge, because I know my friend's BWS 50 started acting up once the battery went dead several weeks ago. Her bike could be kickstarted, but it got more and more difficult. Plus, her turn signals would not work with the old battery once the bike had been kickstarted. I experimented by simply swapping out my TMEC battery, the T-Motorsports gel-cell battery, and the scooter easily started, the turn signals flashed, so it was determined a new batter would do the trick. I am tired and groggy, so will wait to play with the TGB tomorrow...

Excellent troubleshooting! I'm not sure that I would have headed straight to the battery. I was thinking it was a ground issue.

The battery is charged, and the same problem is still plaguing me! Something must have been touched in loading the bike on the pickup truck. I will have to play with it some more--blew a few fuses, too!

Wrote to TGB USA (Alan at Excalibur ) and he sent my problem on to TGB hq--they believe a wire might have a short somewhere. I played around with the taillight, and it might just very well be the taillight assembly. Excalibur has one in stock as it is the exact same assembly as the TGB Key West 50, so for $31.50, will pull the trigger, and see if that solves anything. If not, I called the local Honda/Yamaha dealer, described the issue, and the service guy figures they would have no problem figuring it out. I will wait to take it in if the new taillight does not solve the issue. Kind of frustrating considering it worked the week before last when I paid for it, and something happened on the drive back--and it is not even 'Chinese' (as in FROM China )

Success!! I rode the bike down to the dealership, and the service manager looked at the taillight assembly and realized the ground piece of metal had come out of the assembly and was crossing the two pieces of metal where the other two wires attach to. He bent it downwards (and refused $), I rode it home reassembled everything and now the taillight and the brake light work and it keeps turning on, over and over, with the starter button!! I am embarrassed but happy...
