Ricky motorsports hawk 250 enduro first impressions

Well after assembling, changing the oil, and a new sparkplug I have put about 10 miles on the bike. Some on road and some off road.the engine runs smooth and quiet.has good power at low rpm, gets a little less peppy at the higher end.and if you try to hold it at mid rpm's it seems to slow down a little. I think a carb change is in order. It seems happiest on the road. Off-road it seems a little squirly and unstable compared to my sons crf230, but I intend to use it on the street mostly anyway so its OK. The bike looks nice and overall seems to be a good value for $1300.00. It seems to be geared well for off-road use but not street use so a sprocket change will be on the list as well.
I will post engine pics later and maybe you guys can help me find the parts for my upgrades.

I put a few more miles on it today and am still happy with it. I checked the speed with gps. At maximum rpm in 5th gear with a 185# rider on level ground with no wind it goes 57 mph. I've ordered some sprockets and I will update when I get a chance to install them. It seems to have enough power to sacrifice some torque for some top speed, I guess we will see

Looking forward to updates. What sizes are the sprockets now? What sizes did you order?

I'm glad you are enjoying your new bike. Please continue the updates as you log more miles in the saddle.

It has a 15t front and a 50 t rear on it now and I ordered a 40 t and a 36 t rear and a 16 t front so I should have lots of options. I'm hoping to get 70 + mph if possible. I will let y'all know how it goes

You might get close to that with just a 17 tooth front sprocket change, but I bet the 16/40 will do the trick.

Yeah it looked like the 17 t front would be a tight fit so I decided not to chance it. I am gonna start with the 16/40

I purchased a pair of these aswell. Put about 20miles on them doing a combination of trail and street. They feel better on the trail for me. One dirt bike has a problem with the neutral light always on no matter what gear. Both dirtbikes have a problem with gear switching. It's really hard getting them into neutral, not sure if they require a break in period but sometimes I need to kill the bike then I can find neutral when it's off. When I'm on the street sometimes it goes into neutral easily. Other times I can't get it to neutral snd have to hold the clutch in. But engine feels good otherwise lt Has great torque and off the line power for trails, mud, uphill, etc. It will even pop wheelies

If you look under the new member section title "Hi all greetings from Texas" there are pics and details. They shipped it with 2 right side tank fairings and no left side so its not completely finished yet, but at least I can ride it while I wait on the parts.

Thank you for the warm welcome weldngrind and ripcuda.
I really hope my bikes neutral issue goes away in time. I adjusted the clutch cable, changed the oil from Rotella 15w40 to synthetic royal purple 15w40 and I lowered the idle a lot. I hope this fixes it else I will be taking apart that clutch cover to see if there are any gremlins in there making all the trouble!

Not likely gremlins. It's sure to be a small toad or dwarf living in there.

I'm sure that neutral will become easier to find in the future. How many miles on the bikes now?

Please start a new thread on them, and show us pics. We love pics!

Hi
I just bought 2 of these myself and would like to know what kind of battery the Hawks use so that i can buy the correct charger.

Also motobuys lists Engine oil SAE 10W-30/15W-40.
Is that the only kind of oil i should buy or is it ok to use 15w40.

Thanks
